Hi, I'm Tim - and I love comedy.
I have been involved in amateur theatre for over 37 years, having first stepped onto the stage at the age of five in my local village pantomime. What began as a childhood hobby quickly became a lifelong passion, leading me to study drama at school, where I achieved an A* at GCSE.
My teenage years were spent following another passion - music, but as I reached early adulthood the call of the stage was strong.
Since 2008, I have been a proud member of the Monkton Players, based near Taunton in Somerset. During that time, I have been involved in 32 productions, directing 14 of them, and gaining experience across all aspects of amateur theatre both on and off stage.
Comedy has always been at the heart of what I love to create. I’m particularly drawn to fast-paced, character-driven humour, and I enjoy crafting plays that bring energy, laughter and a sense of fun to both performers and audiences alike.
Outside of theatre, I enjoy photography and heritage railways; as well as keeping active through sport and walking my dog Ruby - often where new ideas for scripts have a habit of appearing.
As both an actor and a writer, I enjoy creating plays that feel fun to perform as well as entertaining to watch. I’m naturally drawn to fast-paced dialogue, sharp humour, and a constant thread of comedy, whether that’s in the form of quick one-liners or more structured jokes. I tend to avoid long, unnecessary speeches, preferring lively interaction and physical moments that actors can really get their teeth into and audiences can relish too.
Set in the tranquil surroundings of the Rest Easy Retreat, Mindful Mayhem is a fast-paced modern farce where relaxation is the goal… but chaos is guaranteed.
As staff attempt to present a picture of calm professionalism ahead of an important inspection, everything that can go wrong does. A mistimed delivery, questionable “wellness” practices, unexpected visitors, and a series of increasingly desperate cover-ups quickly spiral out of control. With tensions rising and secrets unravelling, the retreat becomes anything but restful.
At the heart of it all is A.U.R.A. - the retreat’s ever-present (and not entirely helpful) AI system, whose observations and interruptions only add to the confusion.
Packed with larger-than-life characters, rapid-fire dialogue, and escalating comic situations, Mindful Mayhem is designed with performance in mind - offering strong roles, physical comedy, and plenty of opportunities for ensemble interaction.
A contemporary farce with a classic feel, it’s a play that builds momentum, rewards timing, and leaves audiences laughing from start to finish.
Originally written for the Monkton Players, who performed it in April 2026.
When the well-meaning but anxious vicar of Little Buckton sets out to impress a visiting Bishop, he believes he’s found the perfect solution - a celebrity guest to open the village fête.
But when a mix-up involving some dangerously potent homemade “elderflower cordial” leaves the glamorous actress less than composed, the day begins to spiral out of control.
As torrential rain drives everything indoors, rival committee members battle for attention, a hard-of-hearing sound engineer makes matters worse, and a well-intentioned plan to keep the truth hidden leads to a series of increasingly ridiculous misunderstandings - including a very unconvincing disguise.
With reputations on the line and chaos mounting, it falls to the long-observing Edna to reveal that not everything is quite as it seems…
Packed with fast-paced dialogue, farcical confusion, and larger-than-life village characters, Fete Fiasco is a riotous comedy about ambition, appearances, and the glorious unpredictability of community life.
